Use the Construction Punch List Template to inspect ceilings, walls, windows, etc for quality control, to identify defects ahead of project closeout.

1. Are there any frayed ends on the carpet?

2. Does the flooring transition correctly between systems i.e., from tile to carpet?

3. Is your tile or stone flooring evenly grouted so the grout joints are the same size?

4. Has the floor grout been sealed?

5. Is the tile or stone flooring installed level so there is no more than 1/16” rise?

6. Are there any cracked or chipped tiles?

7. Is the perimeter wood, carpet, stone, or vinyl wall base attached?

8. Are there any gaps between the base and the wall?

9. Are there any gaps between the base and the flooring?

10. Are carpet seams visible?

11. Is the direction of the carpeting consistent?

12. Are there transition strips where different types of flooring meet?

13. Is there any damage to the flooring from construction operations?

1. Is the dryer vent connected to the outside?

2. Are the plumbing fixtures caulked and sealed?

3. Does the garbage disposer work?

4. Did you run your dishwasher through one full cycle?

5. Are shut-off valves installed at all water connections i.e. kitchen, bathroom, hot tub?

6. Have access panels been installed to access plumbing in the walls?

7. Dohot and cold water come out of their designated faucets?

8. Do toilets flush properly?

9. Does any of the plumbing connect to the wall leak?

10. Do any of your faucets drip?

11. Are the plumbing cover plates tight to the wall?

12. Does the floor drain have backflow preventers and traps where required?

13. Are the toilet paper holders, and mirrors securely fastened?

14. Is the water heater set correctly?

1. Is the microwave exhaust hooked up and working?

2. Do the exhaust fans work?

3. Have the construction filters been changed in the furnace to clean filters?

4. Are all the diffusers and registers installed and open?

5. Are the thermostats installed?

6. Do the thermostats operate the correct heating and cooling zones?

7. Has the gas been turned on at the furnace and water heater?

8. Is there a humidifier on the furnace and is it installed?

9. Is the ductwork insulated and sealed?

10. Has the contractor vacuumed/cleaned the ductwork following construction?

11. Is there any excessive noise, rattling, or vibration when the AC & furnace runs?

12. Do all the appliances work?

13. Is the range hood connected and vented to the outside?

1. Are there any visible drywall tape joints? Is it checked in natural light and with lights on?

2. Are the holes for light fixtures and vents overcut so there are gaps at the cover plate?

3. Are there any cracks in the ceiling?

4. Are there any cracks at the corners of skylights?

5. Is there adequate access to the attic and is it insulated properly?

6. Are skylights sealed?

7. Are smoke detectors installed and operational?

1. Are there any visible tape joints not properly sanded or missing paint?

2. Are there any cracks at the corners of doors and windows?

3. Are there any screw heads popped through the drywall?

4. Are there any nail heads popped in wood framing?

5. Is there adequate paint coverage or are there thin spots?

6. If the walls are textured, are they uniform?

7. Are there any gouges, dings, or crushed corners?

8. Are there any cracked or chipped wall tiles?

9. Are there any broken grout pieces on tile walls?

10. Is wall covering secure at wall ends and corners?

11. Are any trim pieces tight to the wall with no gaps?

1. Are frames checked for damage - dents, scratches, buckling?

2. Do doors open and close smoothly without catching?

3. Do self-closing doors latch on closing?

4. Is there weatherstripping on all exterior doors?

5. Are there sweeps at the bottom of exterior doors?

6. Do doors close tightly and lock properly?

7. Is there any light visible around the door perimeter or bottom?

8. Do door hinges have all their screws?

9. Does the door threshold create a trip hazard?

10. Is the door threshold sealed to prevent water intrusion?

11. Are there any gaps between the door frame and the wall?

12. Are all your door stops installed?

13. Do windows open and close easily without sticking?

14. Do windows lock easily?

15. Are screens installed and secure?

16. Are any glass panes cracked?

17. Do you notice any moisture between glass panes?

18. Are your doors undercut to clear the carpet and for circulation?

19. If there are closers at the top of the doors, do they work properly?

20. Do glass sliding, pocket, or bi-fold doors slide smoothly on their tracks?
