General Inspection

1. Is the equipment nameplate information (including CT and PT ratio, fuse sizes, and communication links) compared with the latest one-line diagram, and are discrepancies reported?

2. If the nameplate is damaged or missing, is a properly labeled engraved plastic nameplate installed using rivets or screws?

3. Is the equipment inspected for proper alignment, anchorage, grounding, and required area clearance?

4. Are key interlock systems physically tested to ensure proper function (attempting closure on locked-open devices and opening locked-closed devices)?

5. Are key exchange procedures followed at the beginning and end of the job to ensure the system cannot be energized without everyone’s knowledge?

6. Is cleanliness inspected and lubrication applied where needed, especially on current-carrying parts and sliding surfaces?

7. Are all active components exercised (without jeopardizing plant operations)?

8. Are all indicating devices inspected for proper operation?

9. Is the switchboard entered and completely inspected for proper anchoring?

10. Is the switchboard entered and completely inspected for grounds or shorts?

11. Is the switchboard entered and completely inspected for evidence of overheating or arcing?

12. Is the switchboard entered and completely inspected for cable arrangements, support, and cracked or damaged insulators?

13. Are fuse clips inspected for tightness and alignment?

14. Are shutters and barriers inspected for proper operation?

15. Are all internal heaters inspected?

16. Are all disconnects inspected and aligned?

17. Is the interior (especially the insulating supports for the bus) thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned?

18. Is the assembly examined for evidence of leakage from outside sources (roof or wall seams), and are any deficiencies reported?

19. Are vents examined, and is it verified that filters are clean and equipped properly?

20. Are bolted electrical connections inspected for high resistance using one or more of the following methods?

21. Are control power transformers inspected for physical damage, cracked insulation, broken leads, tightness of connections, defective wiring, and overall condition?

22. Are primary and secondary fuse or circuit breaker ratings verified to match the drawings?

23. Is the correct functioning of draw out disconnecting and grounding contacts and interlocks verified?
