Use this ROSPA Playground Inspection Checklist to verify equipment safety, surfacing integrity, and compliance with EN 1176/1177 and UK safety standards.

1. Signage - Are safety/contact signs present and legible?

2. Perimeter - Are fences complete/secure, and road barriers in good condition?

3. Access - Are gates in working order and pathways unobstructed/undamaged?

4. Environment - Is the site free of litter, dangerous objects, or damaged planting?

5. Amenities - Are seats and litter bins secure, undamaged, and (for bins) emptied?

1. Integrity - Is all safety surfacing (rubber, tiles, etc.) undamaged and free of trip hazards?

2. Loose-Fill - Are bark, woodchip, or sand levels at the correct depth markers?

3. Hygiene - Is the sand/bark free of rubbish, animal waste, or glass?

1. General Structure - Are all supports, timber work, and safety barriers present, fixed, and undamaged?

2. Moving Parts - Do swings, roundabouts, and rockers move smoothly, quietly, and freely?

3. Specific Components - Are chains, ropes, and connectors secure and unbroken?

4. Slides - Are the steps and chutes undamaged and clear of debris?

5. Springs/Cables - Are springs undamaged, and cable runners moving smoothly?

6. Integrity - Are there any missing pieces (indicated by open holes in metal or fresh marks on timber)?

1. Have all identified faults been reported to the maintenance team?

2. Has the inspection log been dated and signed upon completion?
