Use this Underground Storage Tank Inspection Checklist to routinely inspect tanks for leaks, corrosion, and compliance with environmental regulations.

1. Are all fill lids present and in good condition?

2. Are fills correctly identified by color and located on the correct tank?

1. Is the spill bucket free of dirt, trash, water, and product?

2. Is the spill bucket in good condition and free of damage (e.g., no cracks, bulges, or holes)?

3. Does the drain assembly work (if applicable)?

1. Is the fill adaptor tight on the riser pipe?

2. Is the fill cap in place with a gasket and sealed tightly on the fill pipe?

1. Is the overfill device free of obstructions?

1. Does the tank contain less than ¼ inch of water?

1. Is the vapor cap in place with a gasket and sealed tightly on the vent pipe?

2. Does the poppet of the vapor recovery adaptor seal tightly?

3. Are the vapor recovery lids painted orange?

1. Are the nozzles pressure-sensitive?

2. Are the nozzles in good condition and free of leaks?

1. Are the swivels in good condition and free of leaks?

1. Are the hoses in good condition and free of leaks?

1. Are the breakaway connectors in good condition and free of leaks?

1. Are the breakaway hoses in good condition and free of leaks?

1. Does the Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) have power?

2. Does the ATG printer have paper, and is it in working condition (if applicable)?

3. Do the liquid measurements and the ATG readings appear to be accurate?

4. Are the warning or alarm lights off?

1. Are under-dispenser areas, submersible turbine pump areas, and piping transition areas free of leaks?

1. Are dispensers operating at normal flow rates (not in slow-flow)?

1. Are inventories reconciled daily, and are the variances within the guidelines set by the facility owner?
