Brake & Braking Systems 

1. Do all components function correctly, are they mounted securely, and are they correctly located?

3. Are all mechanisms, including doors, boots, Ute lids, bonnets, hatches, and tailgates, functioning?

6. If the vehicle has a tray-type body, does it have suitable mudflaps for the vehicle type?

1. Is the steering wheel suitable for the vehicle, and are any covers secure?

3. Is a suitable rearview mirror present and providing a clear view to the rear of the vehicle?

4. Is the horn/warning device effective, able to sustain a steady and constant pitch?

5. Does the vehicle have a functioning speedometer displaying speed in km/h (for vehicles built after 1 July 1988)?

Lights, Reflectors, And Signals

1. Are the headlights, lights, and reflectors in good condition?

Suspension & Steering

1. Are the power steering fittings free of oil leaks?

4. Are the dust and grease seals deemed suitable?

Wheels And Tires

1. Do the tires display a tread depth of at least 1.5mm at any point on the tread reasonably expected to contact the road (other than at tyre tread indicators)?

2. If tread wear indicators are present, do the tires not display sufficient wear for such indicators to contact the road surface?

3. Are the tires and rims of compatible size?

4. If retreaded tires are used, is the ID of the retreader clearly marked?

5. Do retreaded tires display the word "retreaded" and the relevant markings as required by the Australian standard?

6. Are the wheels, rims, and tires free of cracks or any other damage that could cause failure?

7. Are the wheels and rims not out of balance or otherwise damaged, dented, or buckled?

8. Is a "temporary use" spare tyre not fitted as a road wheel?

9. If spoke wheels are present, are all spokes intact, straight, fitted, and tensioned correctly?

10. When facing straight ahead, do the wheels and tires not project beyond the width of the mudguards?

11. Do the wheels and tires not contact any part of the vehicle during any combination of steering or suspension functions?

12. Are the wheels securely fitted with the correct type and number of studs or nuts (or both, where required)?

Windows & Windscreen

1. Are the windows and windscreen free of any cracks, chips, scratches, or damage that compromises driver visibility or safe operation?

2. Are there no alterations (including tinting) that might impact the driver’s ability to see the road and other users at all times?

3. Are the windscreen wipers correctly fitted and functioning properly?

4. Are the windscreen washer jets correctly positioned to effectively keep the windscreen clear of rain, dirt, or debris?

5. Is the windscreen not tinted in the primary vision area to more than 70% (for vehicles manufactured after 1971)?
