Daily Electrical Maintenance Checklist

Use this Daily Electrical Maintenance Checklist to inspect distribution panels, emergency systems, generators, UPS, lighting, and electrical rooms as part of a structured daily walk around.

1. The electrical room is locked and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

2. The electrical room is clean, dry, and free from stored materials, combustibles, and debris.

3. Ambient temperature in the electrical room is within the acceptable operating range.

4. No evidence of water ingress, condensation, or moisture is present on walls, floors, or equipment.

5. Ventilation and cooling systems in the electrical room are operational and unobstructed.

6. No signs of pests, rodents, or insect activity are present.

1. All distribution panel doors are closed and secured.

2. No circuit breakers or fuses are in a tripped or open position.

3. All panel indicators and pilot lights show normal status.

4. No visible signs of overheating, scorch marks, or burning smell are detected at any panel.

5. All panel labels, circuit directories, and warning signs are present and legible.

6. Bus ducts and cable trays visible from the walkround are free from damage and obstructions.

7. No alarms are active on the building management system (BMS) for electrical distribution faults.

1. Generator fuel level is at or above the minimum required level.

2. Generator battery condition indicators show normal status.

3. Generator control panel is in auto mode and free from active faults or alarms.

4. Coolant and oil levels are within the normal operating range (where accessible without opening).

5. Automatic transfer switch (ATS) is in normal position with no active alarms.

6. Generator room or enclosure is clean, ventilated, and free from obstructions around the unit.

1. All UPS units show normal operating status with no active alarms.

2. Battery health and charge status indicators show no faults or warnings.

3. UPS load indicators are within normal operating range.

4. UPS bypass status is confirmed as not active (unless planned maintenance is in progress).

5. No overheating or unusual noise is detected from any UPS unit.

1. All exit signs are illuminated and visible.

2. Emergency luminaires show no fault indicators on self-test panels or central monitoring systems.

3. No emergency light fittings with visibly damaged lenses, housings, or missing units are observed.

4. Any emergency lighting faults identified are recorded and reported for remedial action.

1. Common areas, plant rooms, and stairwells are adequately lit with no widespread lamp failures.

2. No exposed wiring, damaged conduit, or open cable trunking is observed during the walkround.

3. No damaged, cracked, or missing socket outlet or switch faceplates are observed.

4. Any individual lamp failures or fitting damage identified are logged for planned replacement.

1. All faults, alarms, and defects observed during the walkround are recorded with location and description.

2. Any critical faults affecting safety or power continuity are escalated immediately to the responsible engineer or supervisor.

3. Previous day's open defects are reviewed and status updated.
