Use the Non-Permit Required Confined Space Checklist to assess confined spaces' safety prior to entry and verify that no hazardous work will be performed.

1. Are any activities conducted that could create a hazard inside the confined space such as welding or breaking a line?

2. Are any chemicals brought into the space that could create a hazard such as solvents or adhesives?

3. Do any conditions exist around the space that could adversely affect anyone within the space?

4. Is the air monitor calibrated within the last 12 months?

5. Is air sampling conducted on the top, middle, and bottom of the space and are the oxygen levels between 19.5% and 23.5%?

6. Is air sampling conducted on the top, middle, and bottom of the space and is the LEL or LFL less than 10%?

7. Is air sampling conducted on the top, middle, and bottom of the space and is the hydrogen sulfide concentration less than 10 ppm?

8. Is air sampling conducted on the top, middle, and bottom of the space and is the carbon monoxide concentration less than 35 ppm?

9. Does the space contain any material that could engulf an entrant (such as water)?

10. Does the space contain any exposed or unprotected mechanical equipment?

11. Does the space contain any exposed or unprotected electrical conductors?

12. Does the space contain any exposed or unprotected fall hazards?

13. Does the space have extreme temperatures (greater than 110°F or less than 25°F)?

14. Does the space contain any friable asbestos-containing material?
