This inspection checklist covers essential care home aspects that need to be audited on a daily basis, such as medication charts, rota, meals, cleanliness etc.

1. Does the rota reflect the staff on duty?

2. Are shifts covered for day shift?

3. Are shifts covered for night shift?

4. Is the handover sheet available?

5. Is the Care Home clean?

6. All kitchenettes are checked and clean.

7. Clinical waste bins are stored appropriately.

8. Laundry skips are stored appropriately.

9. Dishwashers and fridges are checked and clean.

10. All rooms of residents are clean and in order.

11. All call bells are accessible to residents.

12. Appropriate response time of call bells is applied.

13. Call bells are within reach in bedrooms and lounges.

14. Any creams or eyedrops of residents checked (opening dates recorded and stored appropriately).

15. Topical medication chart completed.

16. Fridge and room temperature checked for the day.

17. At mealtime, tables are set correctly.

18. Trays are set up correctly.

19. Staff present to assisting residents.

20. Staff assist residents appropriately.

21. Soft diets served appropriately.

22. Meals correspond to the menu.

23. Check meals to see if they are hot, tasty and well.

24. Cleaning schedules are completed in each area.
