Ensure the health and safety of staff and patients with regular inspections of manual handling equipment, procedures and staff training (including hoists, wheelchairs, lifts, slings, and relevant training completion).

1. Full body hoists are checked on a 6 months basis, they are safe and in good condition.

2. All stand aid hoists are checked on a 6 months basis, they are safe and in good condition.

3. All wheelchairs are checked on a 6 months basis, they are safe and in good condition.

4. All lifts and stair lifts are checked on a 6 months basis, they are safe and in good condition.

5. All certificates of servicing is made available.

6. Repairs and recommendations of any equipment have been carried out.

7. All hoists have a maximum load capacity displayed.

8. All slings are fit to purpose (No tears, frays or labels worn).

9. Staff check the condition of hoists before each use.

10. Staff check the condition of slings before each use.

11. Manual Handling training carried out to all staff.

12. Competent Manual Handling trainer is available and present in the home (up-to-date certificate as evidence).

13. Manual Handling information package is available for all staff.
